Today at 9:57GMT a Germanwings plane crashed in in the Alps in France carrying 150 passengers including crew members and the chance that there could be any survivors are close to none according to most reports.
The plane was last seen on French radar at 9:57GMT flying at approximately 1,825 metres above ground. Those on board included Spanish, Turkish and German nationals.
The German wings aircraft was flying from Barcelona, Spain to Dusseldorf Germany.
This crash is quite a blow to the record of the airline as Aljazeera`s Dominique Kane Reported that
“Germanwings has outstanding safety records. This is the first fatal incident involving the airline,”
From their twitter page, the airline tweeted a few messages showing their regret with the family and friends of those who perished in the crash.
One of the tweets read
“By these events. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of the passengers and crew members. 5/5”
Their website has provided hotlines : "Lufthansa and Germanwings have established a telephone hotline. The numbers 0800 014 8904 (UK) and +1 407 362 0632 (worldwide) are available to all the families of the passengers involved for care and assistance."
The German Lufthansa owned airline Germanwings GmbH is a low-cost airline with headquarters in Cologne.
It seems like the air travel industry is not yet on the road to recovery since the string of catastrophic plane crashes that have occurred in the last year with majority of those being Asian airlines.
May God be with the families of those who perished in these difficult times.
